UK Forces Resttlement Army Navy Marines AirforceIf you are leaving the U.K. military and are looking for your next adventure, why not consider resettling in Thailand and becoming a PADI Instructor? The U.K. military will actually pay for your internship through the resettlement program.

Aquanauts Instructor Training graduates and staff include officers and enlisted men from the British Army, British Royal Marines, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and other services. Whether you’ve ever dived before or not, Aquanauts Instructor Training has a resettlement program for you. We can train you from a novice status, help you cross over from BSAC, SDI, SSI, CMAS or any diving certification agency, or bring you into the world of PADI training building on your experience in military or commercial diving.

U.K. Resettlement Program

Depending upon how long you’ve served, your resettlement package can more than cover the cost of even our seven-month novice to instructor program. Here’s a few things you need to know, however:

  • You will receive 60 percent of your resettlement program in advance, upon completion of paperwork by Aquanauts. However, all our programs require a full, 100 percent payment in advance and we do not sign any paperwork until a minimum 40 percent deposit is paid.
  • Your resettlement plan covers funding for training lasting no longer than 49 days. After that point, we can complete paperwork showing you’ve achieved a specific level of training and you can obtain the final 40 percent owned to you by the government.

U.K. Enhanced Learning Credits

U.K. military Enhanced Learning Credits cannot be used for Aquanauts internships. The program has been closed to overseas vendors for many years and Aquanauts is not registered with the ELC program.

U.S. G.I. Bill Financing

The news is not as good for our American friends. You, unfortunately, cannot use the Montgomery G.I. Bill to pay for your internship.

According to the U.S. Veterans Administration, the G.I. Bill can only be used outside the U.S. when the training program results in a university diploma or equivalent. Thus, scuba diving (or Muay Thai boxing, cooking and other such programs) do not qualify.

You can only receive reimbursement for the actual PADI Instructor Exam, which is around $700. The rest of the internship you must pay for yourself.
